Week #18 of 20: 10/3+10/5 Share Renewal Time!

It's time to start thinking about 2024 already! I can't believe this week will be October... this season has felt like a time warp! But here we are, and though the smoke and kooky weather has made this season interesting it's also been an amazing year! Sorry-not-sorry for all the exclamations!!

Everyone in the share will be receiving emails from us this weekend with all the info about how to renew your share. There is one major change for next season and it involves increases in pay to our farm crew! All is explained in the email. Even though you are thinking about renewing for next season, the farm is already locking down a crew for 2024 and we have a few people with a lot of farming experience. We want to make sure they can make our farm their job for the foreseeable future! Though farming as a profession is largely looked down upon as something uneducated people may pursue (an assumption I never understood...why wouldn't you want smart, educated people growing your food for you?), it is in fact a skilled profession that requires a lot of abilities, knowledge, and fortitude in order to be proficient at it. And just like any job, the longer a person farms the more they learn, the more able they are to make decisions on the spot, and they become more reliable and productive (and the better the veggies in the shares are!). So here's to a great rest season this year and the next!

As for this week, the share will include potatoes, Fall squashes, carrots, beets, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, celery, kohlrabi, salad turnips, fennel, cabbage, greens, head lettuce, bok choy, and radishes.

The Fruit Share will include pears, apples, and peaches!

Don't forget to grab your Savage Wheat order, too!
