Tomorrow (Sunday the 21st) is not only Father's Day, it is also the Summer Solstice! It is the longest day of the year. Though it only changes by a couple minutes-ish as we move to the 'backside' of 2026, it still is a reminder to cherish these (hopefully) warm, sunny days! Sometimes I get so tired during the Summer months that I go to bed before the sun even sets :) But it means that Summer crops are on their way. If it would stop pouring down rain for more than a couple days then maybe the crops could thrive instead of drown! I digress...
The Fruit Share will start soon as well, and we will send out emails for that. Savage Wheat and Three Sisters should be here this week again. The UPick fields will hopefully open later on in July as usual.
This week's share will include beets, radishes, salad turnips, bunched greens, garlic scapes, broccoli, kohlrabi, bok choy, carrots, head lettuce, spinach, and bunched greens!!
Yes! This is a leafy green time of year! Be smart about your greens...you don't have to eat them all raw. Chop and sautee, make into a pesto (instead of using basil), use as green sauce on a pizza, plus they freeze easily! Including in pesto form.
