Summer Share #15 of 20: 9/13+9/15- Keep Calm and Keep Working

Well, the first week of school has come and gone and hopefully the chaos of it has passed as too! As the weather can't make up it's mind if it wants to be Summer or Fall, we keep marching forward. The Summer crops have slowed tremendously, and some of the tomatoes split in the 5 day rain marathon last week. But this is what happens as the seasons change, and the Fall brassicas are ready to hit their stride. So here's to the final 6 weeks of the Summer Share!

Which brings me to my next point: the Winter Share. I finally sent emails out to current members to remind you to sign up for the Winter Share this week or next (simply bring your payment of $250 with you to your next share pick up). The Winter Share runs from November through January. It's a great way to eat with the seasons.

But this week's Summer share will include: potatoes, carrots, fall squashes, onions, kohlrabi, beets, cabbage, peppers, eggplant, kale, fennel, chard, radicchio, lettuce, escarole, bok choy, celery, and tomatoes!

The fruit share this week will include seedless table grapes, peaches, plums, and maybe the debut of the gala apples??

Don't forget your Savage Wheat order, too ;)

Wowee! It's the last week of October and our first real freeze just happened. This means anything that can't handle being frozen just perished if it was outside last night. This includes crops, weeds,
