Winter Share #6 of 7: 1/7+1/9- Is that for Real?

Well, somehow it's 2025! Happy New Year! Here's to a wonderful 2025 to you and yours.

The shortest days are behind us, but the bulk of Winter is still to come. While I hope you are able to get some rest during the shorter days, we are trying our darndest to rest as well. The growing season in Western New York is a sprint for about 4.5 months with surrounding months being used to ramp up and then wind down, but it takes a lot of energy both physical and mental.

So hopefully January and February can be used to truly rest.

As for the Winter Share we just harvested the last of the field kale! That's right, kale is amazing and handled the crazy cold and wind over the last month with ease. We are also harvesting more greens like lettuce mix and bok choy from our unheated tunnels. We have to harvest these crops when there is a window in the weather, and next week is looking frigid!

So this week's Winter Share will include potatoes, squashes, kale, turnips, radishes, rutabegas, celery and celery root, onions, carrots, parsnips, beets, fennel, radicchio, bok choy, lettuce mix and more!
