Welp, It's November and I'm not sure where October went. We are about to 'fall back' for Daylight Savings Time and this is the time in the season where we feel like falling asleep at 8pm! After a long season (that still isn't done yet) we are pretty tired; then add the time change and everything gets thrown outta wack. It does, however, help with cold mornings because the sun is up earlier to thaw out everything before we have to harvest.
Speaking of harvest, now that it is November we are under a time crunch to get the Winter vegetables all out of the fields before we get surprised by any snow. Yep, I said the word. We're hoping to get all the root veggies out of the ground this week. Then we'll focus on cabbage and leeks. And finally the greens will be harvestable from the big fields until they are covered in snow. We were harvesting kale in the fields until the end of December last year!
As for this week in the Winter Share, we will still have a loads of all the good Fall stuff. The share will include potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, beets, bunched greens, spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, Kohlrabi, salad turnips and radishes, bok choy, winter squashes, onions, leeks, and lettuce!
