This past week and this coming week have been jam packed with harvesting, irrigating, and weeding. We don't have enough work hours to get everything done. So are there a few things we wish were done but are not? Of course. You might even see some of these things around the farm when you come to pick up your share.
But when you do come to the farm, whether it is with people who come here all the time or someone's first time at the farm, everyone you bring with you has to follow farm rules.
As George Costanza said, "We're living in a society!". So please don't leave your trash here, be nice to everybody, and absolutely do not smoke on our property. The nicotine in the tobacco actually can negatively affect on our tomatoes and cause them to deteriorate and die. I want to reiterate, there is no smoking absolutely ever on farm property. Thank you.
This hot, dry weather is causing a few crops that usually mature over 2 or 3 weeks to mature all at once. It's causing a bit of a problem, especially now that it is going to be 90 degrees for most of the week (we have to harvest on time or we might loose the crop if it is ready).
So here is what is in the share this week- potatoes, squashes, cucumbers, salad turnips, carrots, beets, cabbage, sweet peppers, eggplant, onions, fennel, head lettuce, tomatoes, watermelon and cantaloupe!
The fruit share will include peaches, plums, and nectarines
