That's right! It's time to kick off the Summer Share season this coming week! Everyone in the share was sent reminder/update emails last weekend with all the info you need to show up for your first share! If you did not receive one, please check your spam folder!! (I resisted putting that last bit all in caps ;) Everyone will be sent another reminder email this weekend consisting of all the same information. If you are a Tuesday member your first pick up is the 6th from 2:00-6:30, and if you are a Thursday member your first pick up is the 8th from 2:00-6:30. Please bring questions with you to the share room! We will again have reusable bags for sale in the shareroom (made from recycled cotton) for $10
So it will be a bit chillier than this last week, but good it's good harvesting weather. We have been busy getting as many crops in the ground as the length of day allows. We have already even started seeding the Fall crops.
Just like every year, we like to remind people that the first share is greens heavy. Why is that? Because those are the crops that can handle cold weather (it did just frost a week and a half ago), and grow quickly enough to be ready for our kick-off week! As the weather warms, and the length of day peaks, the warm weather crops will start kickin it into gear. So please be prepared for the first share to also potentially be the smallest one...stuff just isn't ready yet (including the u-pick fields)!
The first share of the season will include (but is not limited to): head lettuce, bok choy, kale, chard, salad turnips and radishes, root veggies, herbs, and spinach!
