Believe it or not, things are already turning toward Fall on the farm! This Summer has been the hottest Summer I have ever experienced in my life (this coming from someone who is outside 10 hours a day every week of the Summertime). The nighttime lows have been more like daytime highs. Anyway, if we have cooler temperatures on the horizon we are celebrating!
But as far as the farm goes, we have already clipped and picked up the first of the Fall squashes! The first kabochas, spaghetti squashes, and acorns are gonna be shoring up in the share soon. We have also started bulk harvesting the onions (they are literally right at the stop sign at Shimerville and Roll) and bringing them in from the fields for curing. All these tasks are cueing my brain to start getting excited about Fall ;) We still have a fair amount of weeding to do, and also hoping that the bugs start to chill out soon. But it's looking like the temperatures are starting to chill out, too.
**Also, there will be construction on Shimerville Rd this week. We are not sure what it will look like for pick up hours, but you might need to leave yourself some extra time to get here and get out
This week's share will include new potatoes, summer squashes, carrots, beets, peppers, eggplants, onions, head lettuce, cabbage, Fall squashes, melons, and tomatoes!
