Now we are entering that time of the season when farmers do not have enough hours in the day to get everything done that the farm requires (even though these are some of the longest days of the year). Instead we are forced to prioritize things over other things that also need care and attention. We have a visual every moment of every day of all the items on the to do list that have not been done. They are not sitting in our minds taking up metaphorical space, they are sitting in front of our eyes actually taking up space. It can be overwhelming to see work that is not getting done because other work has priority.
But that's why we have terms and nicknames to describe stages throughout our season. And this year I've been referring to July as Jululu, because we might just be getting a little delulu trying to get everything done while simultaneously dealing with the increasing temperatures and volatile weather. But we are out here doing our very best.
This week's share will include squashes, cucumbers, carrots, beets, fresh onions!, radishes, salad turnips, cabbage, kohlrabi, fennel, scallions, head lettuce, bunched greens, chard, and kale.
The Fruit Share will include blueberries and cherries!
