Summer Share #2 of 20- 6/17+6/19: A Weird Timeline

I just looked at my notes from last season, and crops are way behind where we are this season. Garlic scapes were in at this time last year. Of course, the garlic was harvested earlier than ever before last year so maybe this season will be a more 'normal' harvest window.

But we mostly planned for a later Spring based on a gut feeling (rooted in decades of experience) I had at the start of the year. So I'm glad we planned the way we did for this Summer CSA season. A lot of the crops are looking good, some are looking great while a few are not looking good at all. This always happens every season. There is so much work to do between mid/late April and Memorial Day that it's difficult to make sure every single crop we grow is perfect. But here we are with most of our fields planted, greenhouses mostly empty, and about 2 acres left to plant (we plant about 12 every year). But this is the most difficult part of the whole year. So here we go again!

As for the Summer Share, it is still looking green and leafy as it always does this time of year. The second week of the share will include- spinach, head lettuce, bunched greens, bok choy, broccolini, kohlrabi, radishes, and more!
