Summer Share #11 of 20- 8/18+8/20- A Change in the Air/Winter Share Sign Up

Some late afternoon this past week I noticed the light from the sun had changed. Four o'clock felt almost like 5. this gets more pronounced in September, but this was the first time I noticed it since the light peaked in June. It makes me both happy and sad. Happy that the bugs and the weeds will slow down finally. Sad that we are on the backside of another season. But there is still too much work to do in the hours of light available each week!

Labor Day is the latest it can be this year, so that's an interesting difference from other seasons. Just a reminder that the farm takes the week of Labor Day off from share distribution in order to catch up on some tasks to set us up for a good Fall and Winter. BUT because it is so late, we will begin signing up the Winter Share next week (the week of the 24th). We will email everyone who is currently in the Summer Share with all the info to sign up and pay. We will then reach out to people who are not currently in the Summer share, but want a Winter one a bit later.

But this week's share (as always all grown by us) will include potatoes, carrots, beets, onions, melons, squashes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, head lettuce, kale, chard, Orange Cutie kabocha squash, tomatoes, and cabbage.

The Fruit Share (as always all grown by other local farmers) will hopefully include peaches, plums, and apricots- if anyone still doesn't know this it is an incredibly difficult year for fruit farmers.
