Cold February Weeks

Well this past week brought loads of snow and absolutely frigid temperatures. The dogs were getting a little coo-coo without being able to be outside as long as they are used to (which caused the farmers to get a little coo-coo, too).
We also started signing up new members from our waitlist for the upcoming Spring and Summer CSA season! We've only emailed Wait List Groups A and B so far, so if you are in a later group you will be receiving emails shortly. Remember you have to send in your payment in order to be fully signed up.
I want to thank everybody who renewed their share again this season. We had 92% of our customers decide to come back again this season, and we love seeing you all Summer after Summer. And now we get to welcome a few new members as well, and we can't wait to meet you!
We've been working on upkeep projects this week, as well as starting our deliveries to the Veggie Van at CCE Niagara. It is a mobile food pantry delivering vegetables to people who need them in rural Niagara County. We love working with them and they do such a great job (plus the people that work there are awesome, too!). We currently have 2 of our 3 coolers still in operation, but one of them is actually being heated to 55 degrees to store the last of the winter squashes, the cool cooler is supposed to be at 36 degrees, but we have to keep an eye on it during the coldest nights to make sure it doesn't go below 32 degrees. And finally our root cellar is almost empty; it likes it at 40 degrees.
By the end of the month the root cellar will be empty of all the veggies we grew in 2025, and will then turn into our first seeding location of the 2026 season. The very first seeds will be seeded into trays and under grow lights with the heat cranked up to 65 until we start up our greenhouse in the middle of March.
