Crew Members are involved in multiple aspects of the farm including transplanting, hand weeding, hoeing, harvesting, washing and packing produce. There is also greenhouse and high tunnel work including seeding, watering, trellising and turning beds by hand. We also have wholesale accounts which require harvest, packing and delivering for. If you have interest in or experience with tractors then you would also be helping with field prep, bed forming, transplanting, and cover cropping.
The farm work environment is uptempo and requires the physical capability to contribute daily in a rigorous, fast paced setting. Farm work is incredibly rewarding, yet physically demanding. Please consider this commitment before applying. Pay is commensurate with experience (starting at $12.00 for 2020 up to $14.00 for people with real farm experience). The season generally starts around April 1st and ends in the Fall, but the farm schedule is flexible. We have both full and part time positions available seasonally.

We are looking for reliable, responsible, and hardworking individuals who are able to follow directions and communicate well with others. Previous farm or landscape experience is preferred. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from the farm are required. We love what we do, and we want a farm crew that can get along well and have fun while also getting a lot of stuff done at the same time!

Please submit a resume or something similar and email detailing the following:

  • Why you are interested in working at Root Down Farm
  • Your previous farm related experiences
  • What you personally will bring to this position
  • If you are interested in full or part time work

If you seem like a good fit we will contact you for an initial interview here at the farm, after which the employee and the farm managers will decide if the crew member position is a good match. An on farm visit is required for the position.
